Danaloka a retreat cabin, a million miles and 40 minutes from London |
site by us!

Suggested contributions So far we have been able to accept contributions which have more or less followed the suggested amounts below and therefore should mean the cabin's upkeep isn't too much of a financial burden and ensure its’ continuity. Please do what you can to support this goal. The cabin is bought and paid for and it is our intention to either have the cabin written in trust for the benefit of the WBO or one of the centres. There are no loans or mortgages to pay and hence 100% donations go to Danaloka itself. No individuals receive any kind of payment although the cost of diesel is reimbursed for the people who take the transport option in the Landrover. The aim is to break even on running costs/maintenance and then, if there is any surplus, make improvements. In 2007 well over £18,000 was spent on major improvements which meant there was much less to do in 2008 and I am delighted to say we more than broke even. The £500 surplus was promptly spent on a new chainsaw and power tools for the garden! 2009 will need some support as we are trying to get mains water as the first step to full water and environmentally friendly drainage. Watch this space...... Under certain circumstances (bereavement, ill health etc) the cabin may be available free of charge. It is our warmest wish to share the beauty of this little spot with as many friends as possible and hope that financial matters will never prevent this. However it doesn't maintain itself so we have to be cautious. Suggested donations are as listed below and realistically based upon actual bare running costs with 60% occupancy (very optimistic!). In 2008 the occupancy was around 40% although it is increasing. It costs about £2.50 per day Fuel. Electricity (and Gas) in the autumn/winter but the log burner really helps and is far more environmentally friendly. There's no shortage of logs! We do ask you to add this fuel contribution if you stay between September 1st and April 1st Booking week is usually: Friday to Friday, midday departure, but not inflexible. Prices are for solitary use: Please donate a little extra for 2 persons or more. Main Season: Runs April 1st - October 1st and suggested minimum contributions are: Weekend Friday and Saturday 2 nights £75 - 3 nights £95 - extra nights £22.00 Midweek: 1 night £33 - 2 nights £60 - 3 nights £80 - 4 nights £96 - 5 nights £115 Weekly rate (Fri/Fri) £175 Fortnightly rate (Fri/Fri) £320 3 Weekly rate (Fri/Fri) £460 4 Weekly rate (Fri/Fri) £530 Transport: Car from Stratford to/from cabin £20 each way (£25 if 2 or more sharing) Small groups, TBRL, Community outings or families please call to discuss a rate.
